TSRA members:

Yesterday, the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee voted to approve Senate Bill 1164 by Senator Wentworth, TSRA-backed legislation allowing Concealed Handgun Licensees to protect themselves on college and university campuses. The committee narrowly rejected a TSRA-opposed amendment that would have allowed public institutions of higher education to "opt-out" of the law.

Now we need Twenty-one Senators to agree to allow any bill to be debated on the Senate floor. Time is running short on the chance for passing this important legislation this session.

Make a call to your Texas Senator today and urge their vote for SB 1164, Campus Protection Act.
